The Rey ridge is certainly the best way to climb the highest peak of the Monte Rosa massif. Its name is Punta Dufor and the climb takes place on a mixed ridge with typical difficulties of alpinism. When we’ll arrive to the top we’ll need to have energies to face a tough descent.

MEETING POINT

STAFFAL (GRESSONEY-LA-TRINITÉ)

 

1° DAY

After a quick check of the materials, we’ll take the cable car until Punta Indren. Here, after a walk of about  1.30 hour we’ll reach the Mantova hut immersed in a amazing high-mountain environment.

 

2° DAY

Wake up in the middle of the night and after a hearty breakfast we’ll be ready to go. Until the Lys pass the itinerary is the same of this to Regina Margherita hut. The difference is when we’ll arrive to the pass where we’ll turn left and we’ll go down on a glacier a little crevassed to reach the begin of the ridge. Then, we’ll pass the mixed-rocky ridge with a classic difficults until the IV gade. When we’ll arrive to the top you will be satisfied to have reached the highest peak of Monte Rosa and the landscape will be amazing. The descent takes place on the normal route which is exposed, so you must be well concentrated and not too tired. A final short climb to Zumstein and its descent to reach the route of Regina Margherita hut and then down to Punta Indren.
