BOOKING SUMMARY
Richiedi informazioni
Val di Rhêmes is one of the most interesting areas in Aosta Valley for spring ski touring at altitude. The huts in the valley make it possible to reach, in just a few days, some of the most representative summits of the area, among glaciers, wide valleys and a very open high-mountain environment.
The three-day program combines the comfort of being based in a mountain hut with the possibility of choosing, day by day, the ascents best suited to the current conditions. Punta Basei, Punta Galisia, Roc du Fond, Punta Calabre, Granta Parey and Becca Traversière are some of the possible objectives.
This proposal is designed for ski tourers with previous experience who wish to approach high-altitude ski touring through a complete experience.
Day 1 – Approach to the hut and first outing
Meeting with the group and the Mountain Guide, equipment check and briefing on the following days.
The group then sets off with skis and skins for the ascent to Rifugio Benevolo or Refuge du Fond. Once the overnight equipment has been arranged, if conditions allow, it may be possible to make a first afternoon ascent, for example towards Punta Paletta, 3,024 m, often accompanied by the most beautiful light of the day.
On return to the hut, after a short break, there will be a brief briefing with the Guide to review the program for the following day according to snow and weather conditions.
Days 2 and 3 – High-altitude ascents
The following two days will be dedicated to the ascents that have made Val di Rhêmes one of the classic areas for high-altitude ski touring in Aosta Valley.
Depending on conditions and the level of the group, possible objectives may include Punta Basei, Punta Galisia, Roc du Fond, Punta Calabre, Granta Parey or Becca Traversière.
Daily elevation gains will be indicatively up to 1,200 metres and the difficulty will vary according to the chosen outing. The ascents take place in a high-mountain environment, with final sections on glacier terrain.
Basic ski touring experience, good ability to ski down variable snow and experience with days involving indicative elevation gains of up to 1,200 metres are required.
Familiarity with the use of avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe, and with the main avalanche self-rescue procedures, is recommended.
